Description
A 1 mm cut-off wheel is a consumable you get through by the box, so the difference between a good wheel and an average one shows up in your time before it ever shows up on your invoice. The 3M™ Cubitron™ 3 Cut-Off Wheel is the latest generation of 3M’s precision-shaped grain — a ceramic mineral engineered to fracture into fresh sharp points as it wears, rather than rounding off and burnishing the work the way conventional abrasives do. It cuts through mild steel, stainless tubing, exhaust pipe, clamps and seized fasteners, and it keeps cutting well past the point where a standard wheel has started to glaze.
- Faster through the cut — 3M’s testing puts the cut rate up to 10% higher than Cubitron™ II. On a long day of repetitive cuts that difference compounds.
- Fewer changeovers — removes up to three times more material than Cubitron™ II before the wheel is spent, so you spend less time at the bench swapping wheels and more time on the job.
- Less pressure needed — the grain does the work rather than your arms. Lighter feed pressure means less operator fatigue and better control on thin-wall material.
- Runs cooler — a cooler cut means less heat discolouration on stainless and less risk of drawing the temper on hardened material.
- 1 mm thickness — a narrow kerf that removes less material and takes less effort to drive through, well suited to tube, sheet and precision work.
- Fits any standard 125 mm grinder — 125 mm diameter with a 22.23 mm (7/8 in) bore, Type 41 flat profile for perpendicular cuts using the outer edge of the wheel.
Cubitron™ 3 is a genuine step up rather than a relabel, and for anyone getting through wheels in volume it is worth trying a box against whatever you are running now. If you are not sure whether it suits your work, or you need a size we do not have listed, give us a call — we use these wheels in our own workshop and we will tell you honestly whether they are the right choice for the job you have in front of you.
